| WPI Sensors are out of this world |
WPI sensors have been selected for use in the space shuttle by the European Space Agency. After six months evaluating numerous sensors of various worldwide companies, the European Space Agency chose WPI sensors for pilot experiments in its space shuttle. WPI President, Cliff Bredenberg and Chief Scientist, Dr. Xueji Zhang will visit Italy in July to finalize the sensors and electronics design.

WE WROTE THE BOOK ON ELECTROCHEMICAL SENSORS
WPI scientist is contributing editor on Biosensing publication |
For decades, scientists worldwide have studied the role of nitric oxide in biological processes including blood vessel dilation, neurotransmission, and as a signaling molecule in the cardiovascular system.
Over 60,000 papers have been written on the subject and in 1998, a Nobel Prize in Physiology and Medicine was awarded for nitric oxide discoveries. World Precision Instruments became the first company to successfully develop an isolated nitric oxide detection system.
WPI scientist and Vice-President of Research and Development, Xeuji Zhang, PhD, was instrumental in developing the system and the highly selective biosensors that work with it. He is sharing his vast knowledge of amperometric sensors and chemical processes in a recently published book “Electrochemical Sensors, Biosensors and their Biomedical Applications” by Academic Press.
The book contains information on the importance of nitric oxide in the life sciences and the principles behind measurement and detection of the chemical compound. It can be purchased on Amazon and other book selling websites.
